Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Male or female at least 18 years of age and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, with or without diabetic retinopathy
- Willing and able to provide informed consent for participation in the study
You will not qualify if you...
- History of cardiovascular events within 12 months prior to consent, including myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, unstable angina, heart surgery, or transient ischemic attack
- Any contraindication to magnetic resonance imaging such as pregnancy, extensive tattoos, pacemaker, shrapnel injury, or severe claustrophobia
- Known autoimmune hepatitis, viral hepatitis, Wilson's disease, or significant structural renal tract abnormality
- Known alcohol dependency
- Any other significant disease or disorder that may pose risk or affect ability to participate according to investigator's opinion
