What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the comparative effects of modified Otago and Frenkel's exercises on balance, motor function, fear of falling, and quality of life in older adults aged 65 to 80. This randomized clinical trial aims to determine how each exercise program impacts these outcomes in the geriatric population and whether one exercise type provides superior benefits. The study addresses gaps in knowledge about these exercise methods to improve health and well-being in older adults. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group performs modified Otago exercises that include 17 strength and balance activities plus a 30-minute walk at usual pace three times per week. The other group completes Frenkel's exercises, which focus on slow, coordinated movements in lying, sitting, standing, and stride-standing positions, performed in sets of 10 repetitions. Both groups exercise for 45 minutes, three times a week, over an 8-week period. Participants will be assessed at the start, 4th week, and 8th week of the study. Researchers will measure outcomes including balance using the Mini-Best Test, fear of falling with the Falls Efficacy Scale-International, and quality of life through the Older People's Quality of Life Questionnaire. The study includes monitoring motor function and evaluating safety for individuals capable of independent walking without aids. Total participation lasts 8 weeks, focusing on exercise adherence and outcome improvements.
