Evaluation and Care for Patients with Suspected or Diagnosed Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating patients with inflammatory and infectious diseases that are either diagnosed or undiagnosed and not covered by previous studies. The goal is to collect clinical, immunologic, and metabolic data to better understand these conditions and to create a repository of information for future research. This observational study has been ongoing since 1978 and involves minimal risk to participants. Participants include those with various infectious and inflammatory diseases. Once a diagnosis is made, patients are referred to appropriate NIH protocols for follow-up. If no protocol exists, patients receive standard clinical care either through an outside provider or under this protocol if no specialized provider is available. During the study, participants undergo clinical assessments including history, physical exams, lab tests, and other clinical measurements at initial and follow-up visits. Researchers collect medical records and clinical specimens to characterize the diseases. The study is designed to monitor patients over time while contributing data for future scientific investigation.
