What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying patients who have experienced a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and who are admitted to the Emergency Department. The study aims to understand how patients with TIA are managed in terms of examinations, treatments, and specialist referrals, especially considering that not all patients may need neurovascular expertise. This observational study is conducted by the University Hospital in Strasbourg, France, and addresses concerns about unequal access to specialized care and whether current management aligns with patients' cardiovascular risk. The study observes the current care practices for TIA patients who visited the Emergency Department between January 1, 2024, and December 12, 2024. It does not involve assigning treatments but collects information to evaluate how diagnostic and therapeutic interventions correspond to patients' risk. The researchers particularly focus on whether additional examinations, treatments, and referrals are appropriately linked to cardiovascular risk. Participants will be followed up for up to 12 months, during which the main outcome measure is the ABCD2 score, a tool used to assess the risk of stroke after a TIA. Data collection includes reviewing medical records and monitoring cardiovascular events. The study does not involve any experimental treatments, but it monitors participant outcomes to better understand care quality and risks associated with TIA management over time.
