What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the impact of an artificial intelligence-supported motivational speech on reducing fear of movement and improving mobility levels in patients who have undergone total knee replacement surgery. This fear, known as kinesiophobia, can negatively affect recovery by causing patients to delay mobilization due to fear of falling or re-injury. The study aims to support healthcare staff and enhance patient outcomes by using advanced AI technology for motivational intervention. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. The experimental group listens to an AI-prepared motivational speech three times using headphones in their patient rooms. This speech was developed with expert input and converted into audio via a digital application. The control group does not receive the motivational speech. Both groups are assessed for fear of falling using the TAMPA Kinesiophobia Scale and their mobility levels are measured using the Patient Mobility and Observer Mobility Scale around the second postoperative day. During the study, patients complete assessments of their fear of movement before and after the intervention or a waiting period. Mobility is evaluated as patients first stand up post-surgery. The primary outcome measures focus on kinesiophobia levels shortly before walking, while secondary outcomes assess mobility when standing. The total participation includes assessment and intervention sessions occurring shortly after surgery, aiming to understand how motivational support influences early recovery after knee replacement.

Screening

Duration - 2 to 4 weeks

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial.

1 visit (in-person)

Treatment

Duration - Approximately 1 to 2 days around the first standing post-surgery

Participants either listen to an AI-powered motivational speech three times in their rooms using headphones or receive no intervention. Fear of falling and mobility levels are assessed before and during their first standing after knee replacement surgery.

1 visit (in-person) on the second postoperative day
