What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effects of daily ginger capsule consumption on inflammation, oxidative stress, and endothelial damage in adults with excess body fat. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial aims to understand how ginger impacts markers related to cardiometabolic risk factors over a 60-day period. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will take two ginger capsules daily, each containing 500 mg of ginger extract, and the other will take two placebo capsules without any active ingredients. Both groups will follow their assigned regimen for 60 days, maintaining the double-blind design to ensure unbiased results. During the study, participants will undergo assessments on day 1 and day 60, including blood tests measuring inflammatory markers like interleukin-1 beta and interleukin-6, oxidative stress markers such as homocysteine, and other cardiovascular risk factors like fibrinogen levels and the atherogenic index. Additional measures include cholesterol levels, blood sugar, body weight, body composition, and blood pressure. The study carefully monitors these parameters to evaluate changes associated with ginger intake compared to placebo.
