What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating the relationship between intracranial large artery atherosclerosis and cerebral small vessel disease to understand how they affect each other's progression and patient outcomes. This observational study uses magnetic resonance imaging to explore the feedback mechanism between these two conditions, aiming to find biomarkers that could help in early prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, a leading cause of death worldwide. Participants diagnosed with both intracranial large artery atherosclerosis and cerebral small vessel disease based on imaging will be included. The study primarily uses magnetic resonance imaging as a diagnostic tool to monitor disease progression and stroke recurrence over a period of 1 to 3 years. During the study, participants will undergo imaging assessments and clinical evaluations to track the total burden of small vessel disease and the frequency of stroke recurrence. Researchers will also monitor the occurrence of stroke in asymptomatic individuals. The study spans several years, allowing for long-term observation of disease progression and outcomes.
