What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the factors before surgery that might predict the quality of life changes in patients after bariatric surgery. The study also looks at possible links between quality of life, anxiety and depression scores, eating behaviors, and body mass index after surgery. This research is conducted during the usual care of patients enrolled in the GEROM73 program, which lasts a total of 30 months. The GEROM73 program includes care for six months before bariatric surgery and 24 months after surgery, supporting patients throughout their bariatric treatment. During this time, patients complete questionnaires such as the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire, and the Impact of Weight on Quality of Life EQVOD. Patients weight, body mass index, waist size, and body schema are also measured throughout the program. Participants will be involved in regular assessments that include self-administered questionnaires on anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and quality of life, as well as physical measurements at various visits before and after surgery. Researchers will analyze quality of life scores over 24 months after surgery and compare these with anxiety, depression, eating behavior, and weight-related measures. The study aims to understand how these factors evolve and relate to each other during and after bariatric care.
