What this Trial Is About

Sexual health is an important part of quality of life but is often affected in people with advanced chronic kidney disease who are receiving dialysis. Problems like erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, and trouble with arousal or orgasm are common in this group. These issues arise from various causes including hormonal changes, other health conditions, side effects of treatment, fatigue, and the psychological and relational effects of long-term illness. Researchers are conducting a cross-sectional survey to better understand how dialysis impacts sexual quality of life. Patients undergoing chronic dialysis will be invited to complete self-administered questionnaires during their dialysis sessions. Men will complete the Male Sexual Health Questionnaire (MSHQ) and women will complete the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), along with questions about medical history and body image. The questionnaire takes about 20 minutes to finish. Participants will fill out these questionnaires during their dialysis sessions, allowing researchers to assess sexual quality of life and body perception at that time. The study aims to improve knowledge of patients' experiences and help healthcare professionals address sexual health more effectively in routine nephrology care. This approach may lead to better communication and clinical practices related to sexual health for people receiving dialysis. The study is sponsored by CMC Ambroise Paré and will take place starting in early 2026.
