What this Trial Is About
Researchers are collecting long-term real-world data on genicular artery embolization (GAE) for adults aged 18 and older with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) that causes symptoms and has not improved with medical treatments. This observational study aims to understand if GAE leads to lasting improvements in pain and quality of life over 12 to 36 months and to identify factors that predict better outcomes after the procedure. Participants will undergo GAE, a minimally invasive, image-guided procedure where embolic agents are delivered into specific knee arteries to reduce inflammation and pain. This treatment is part of their usual clinical care. The study does not include a comparison group, focusing instead on tracking outcomes following this intervention. Throughout the study, participants will complete follow-up assessments at 1, 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, and 36 months after treatment, including surveys about symptoms and quality of life. Safety will be monitored according to established guidelines. The main outcome measured is the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), which evaluates pain and function, with data collection continuing for up to five years of enrollment per patient.
