What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating two types of non-surgical periodontal therapy in adults diagnosed with stage III periodontitis. The study compares Minimally Invasive Non-Surgical Therapy MINST with Conventional Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy CNST to investigate their clinical outcomes. Participants are medically free, non-smokers with good oral hygiene, and the study is conducted under early phase 1 treatment conditions. Participants will receive oral hygiene instructions and self-care guidance for plaque control throughout the study. The conventional therapy involves mechanical debridement using a power-driven piezoelectric ultrasonic scaling device and manual curettes. The minimally invasive therapy uses delicate piezo-electric scaling tips and miniature periodontal curettes to reduce tissue trauma, with the aid of magnification loupes. Both treatments are performed under local anesthesia, followed by professional supra-gingival plaque control at 1 and 3 months post-treatment. Participants will be assessed at baseline, 1 month, and 3 months after treatment. Clinical evaluations include plaque index, bleeding on probing, probing pocket depth, clinical attachment level, and gingival index. These assessments help measure the effectiveness of each therapy while monitoring oral hygiene and periodontal health. The total study duration is approximately 3 months with scheduled follow-up visits to support oral health maintenance.
