What this Trial Is About
Patellofemoral pain syndrome is a common musculoskeletal condition that may result from instability in the core muscles, leading to pain, reduced function, and altered balance. This research aims to assess how strengthening the core muscles affects pain, muscle strength, function, and dynamic balance in patients with this syndrome. The study involves adults aged 18 to 35 years and compares core strengthening exercises added to conventional therapy with conventional therapy alone. Participants are divided into two groups of 22 each. Both groups receive a six-week conventional physical therapy program focusing on hip and knee exercises. The study group also performs additional core muscle strengthening exercises during this period. These interventions are designed to evaluate potential improvements in pain, balance, and overall function. Throughout the study, assessments include measuring pain using the Visual Analogue Scale, muscle strength with a handheld dynamometer, function with the Anterior Knee Pain Scale (AKPS), and balance using the BIODEX Balance system. These measures are taken at the six-week point to evaluate the effect of the treatments. Researchers monitor participants' progress to determine the impact of core strengthening on patellofemoral pain syndrome symptoms and function.
