What this Trial Is About

Pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores or decubitus ulcers, are largely preventable wounds that negatively affect patient care quality and create a significant economic burden for healthcare systems. This research aims to evaluate how a gamified metaverse-based training program impacts nursing students' knowledge, academic self-efficacy, and perception of the metaverse regarding pressure ulcer management. The study uses a randomized controlled experimental design involving nursing students as participants. Participants will be divided into two groups based on their initial test scores. The intervention group will receive both traditional classroom theoretical training and gamified metaverse-based training over two weeks, while the control group will only receive traditional theoretical training. This study uses innovative digital education methods to enhance learning experiences through interactive and practice-based approaches. Throughout the study, participants will complete several assessments including the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool 2.0-Updated Version (PUKAT 2.0-T) and the Academic Nurse Self-Efficacy Scale before the intervention, immediately after, and one month later. The intervention group will also complete the Metaverse Perception Scale shortly after training. The researchers will analyze the collected data to assess the effectiveness of the training methods on nursing education related to pressure ulcer prevention and management.
