What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the effects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) cosmetic acupuncture on skin health and aging in adults aged 30 to 60 years. This randomized controlled trial includes 40 participants of all genders divided evenly into an intervention group and a waiting list group. The study aims to analyze changes in various skin indicators before and after cosmetic acupuncture treatment. The cosmetic acupuncture treatment is given twice a week over three weeks. Participants in the intervention group receive the treatment immediately, while those in the waiting list group wait for three weeks before starting the same treatment. Skin assessments are conducted before and after treatment using the Antera 3D smart skin detector, which measures wrinkle depth, skin tone uniformity, subtle skin surface changes, melanin, red pigment, and pore size. Throughout the study, participants undergo skin tests at multiple time points to evaluate face skin texture, color, and pore size. The intervention group is tested at the first and fourth weeks, while the waiting list group is tested at the first, fourth, and seventh weeks. After treatment, participants provide feedback on their acceptance and satisfaction with cosmetic acupuncture. The total participation duration varies depending on group assignment.
