Researchers are studying the effects of eating fresh mango pulp on feelings of fullness and metabolic health in adults who are overweight or obese. The study aims to understand how mango consumption influences satiety and changes in blood sugar and insulin levels over time. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups for 12 weeks. One group consumes 100 calories of low fat cookies daily, while the other group consumes 100 calories of fresh mango fruit daily. The study compares these two snack interventions to evaluate their effects on metabolic parameters. During the study, participants will have their satiety levels measured at multiple times after eating the snack, along with blood tests to monitor glucose and insulin at the start and at week 12. Additional assessments include changes in the gut microbiome at baseline, week 4, and week 12. The study is conducted without masking and is sponsored by San Diego State University.
