Researchers are investigating how eating fresh watermelon fruit affects feelings of fullness, metabolic health, and weight control. The study focuses on adults between 18 and 55 years old with a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 40. The research aims to explore the potential impacts of watermelon consumption on satiety and cardiometabolic health. Participants will be divided into two groups: one group will consume 100 calories of fresh watermelon (about 2 cups) daily for four weeks, while the other group will consume 100 calories of low-fat cookies each day for the same duration. This comparison will help assess differences in satiety and metabolic responses between the two snacks. During the study, researchers will measure changes in participants' feelings of fullness at several time points after eating the snack, specifically at 0, 20, 40, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. Participants will be monitored for four weeks, with assessments focused on satiety and metabolic parameters. The study is sponsored by San Diego State University and is designed to include healthy adult volunteers.

Participants consume 100 Kcal of watermelon fruit (2 cups) daily for 4 weeks and 100 Kcal of low fat cookies daily for 4 weeks in a crossover design.
