Obesity is a significant public health issue, with over 23 million people in France being overweight or obese, and more than 8 million classified as obese. Bariatric surgery, including gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric bypass, is currently the most effective treatment for obesity but is associated with common side effects such as nausea and vomiting, especially after sleeve gastrectomy. This study aims to evaluate the impact of foot reflexology on reducing nausea and vomiting following sleeve gastrectomy surgery. The trial compares two groups: one receiving conventional care alone and the other receiving conventional care plus foot reflexology sessions. Foot reflexology involves stimulating specific reflex zones on the feet thought to activate the autonomic nervous system, promoting relaxation and potentially reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting. Reflexology sessions are given to prepare patients physically and mentally for surgery and to relieve symptoms after surgery. Participants will be monitored for nausea and vomiting within 24 hours after surgery, using a numerical scale to measure symptom severity. The study will assess how many patients experience significant nausea or vomiting during this period. The trial is randomized and does not use masking, with patient consent and social security affiliation required. The overall goal is to determine if foot reflexology can benefit patients after bariatric surgery by lessening these common postoperative symptoms.
