What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating different integrative care approaches that combine psychotherapy with mind-body interventions to see which best improve functioning in Veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder PTSD. This study also aims to understand factors affecting how these treatments are implemented within the VA Healthcare System from the perspectives of patients, providers, and administrators. The study focuses on treatment of PTSD using these combined approaches. Participants are randomly assigned to one of four groups usual care with information about complementary health programs, yoga and meditation classes including hatha yoga and mantra meditation training, wellness classes focused on exercise and nutrition education, or positive affect classes designed to boost mood and social support. Each intervention lasts for 12 weeks, with weekly 60-minute sessions for the active treatment groups. Throughout the study, participants complete assessments at the start, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks later. These assessments measure psychosocial functioning, PTSD symptoms, depression, and insomnia severity using standardized tools. The study involves questionnaires and clinical evaluations to track changes over time and to monitor treatment impact. Participation spans about 24 weeks from the first assessment through follow-up.
