What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating pain management during root canal treatment for patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis in lower molars. This condition often leads to inadequate anesthesia with the standard inferior alveolar nerve block, causing pain during treatment. The study aims to compare two local methods of administering dexamethasone, a corticosteroid, to see if they improve anesthesia success and reduce pain after the procedure. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups one group will receive the standard nerve block plus a submucosal saline injection as a control the second group will receive the nerve block followed by a submucosal injection of dexamethasone the third group will get the nerve block followed by dexamethasone injected into the ligament area. All groups will undergo standardized root canal treatment under local anesthesia. During the study, participants anesthesia success will be assessed during the access cavity preparation and pulp removal phases using a visual pain scale. Postoperative pain intensity will be recorded at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours after treatment, along with any use of pain medication. The studys results may help identify the most effective local dexamethasone method to improve anesthesia and pain control in dental procedures involving symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.
