What this Trial Is About
Researchers are exploring how to improve memory in healthy older adults using a brain stimulation technique called high-resolution transcranial alternating current stimulation tACS. This study aims to develop personalized, brain-guided tACS approaches to enhance memory by targeting brain networks that support memory functions. The research focuses on optimizing stimulation patterns and schedules in a precise way to help with age-related memory decline and conditions related to Alzheimers disease. Participants will receive different types of tACS treatments, including patterned or continuous waveforms, applied for one, three, or five consecutive days. The study compares six different dosing protocols to find the best pattern and timing that can maximize and sustain improvements in working memory, control over interference, and long-term memory recognition. The stimulation is non-invasive, using low-intensity electrical currents applied to the scalp. During the study, participants will undergo brain imaging and electrical activity recording EEG and fMRI to monitor how the stimulation affects brain synchrony related to memory. Memory abilities will be assessed behaviorally at baseline, one week, and one month after the intervention. Researchers will track changes in memory capacity, interruption suppression, and brain activity patterns. The study includes multiple visits for these assessments over the course of one month after treatment to evaluate the effects and understand individual responses.
