What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying cannabis use patterns among young adults aged 18 to 24 years who use cannabis regularly or daily. The study aims to understand how these patterns vary over time, including frequency of use, types of products, and cannabinoid dosages. This research focuses on this age group because they represent the largest proportion of regular cannabis users in Quebec, where changes in cannabis laws have increased the need for detailed knowledge about its effects on health and social outcomes. Participants will use a specially designed mobile application to record their cannabis consumption and related experiences in real time. The study will observe these patterns and their changes over a two-year period, collecting detailed information on routes of administration, product types, THC and CBD content, amount used, and sources of supply. Socio-demographic and behavioral factors related to cannabis use will also be tracked periodically throughout the study. Throughout the two years, participants will be monitored using the mobile app and periodic assessments at scheduled intervals. Researchers will analyze trajectories of cannabis use and their social and health consequences at this critical developmental stage. The study involves regular data collection to provide a comprehensive view of cannabis consumption dynamics, with the goal of informing future prevention and harm reduction strategies.
