AI-Summary

What this Trial Is About

The research investigates primary progressive aphasia (PPA), focusing on the neurological and language decline that occurs during the illness. The study aims to better understand behavioral, anatomical, and physiological changes in people with PPA, increase awareness of this unique disorder, educate others, and promote further research toward developing treatments. Participants join a three-day research program that includes neuropsychological testing, advanced brain imaging such as MRI and PET scans, cognitive experiments, and various computer and language tests. The study may ask participants to return every two years to repeat the same assessments. Travel and accommodations are provided for those living far from Chicago, Illinois. During the study, participants undergo thorough evaluations including cognitive tests and imaging scans. Researchers measure neuropsychological variables immediately after testing and again two years later to track changes. The study is observational, with no experimental treatments, and focuses on monitoring language and brain function over time.
